The Storyteller theme for Newscoop

Using audio

When and where to apply audio

The inclusion of audio should only serve as an enhancement to your story, not as a requirement. It is often the case that readers are viewing these stories when they don’t have the option to turn on the sound. The story should make sense even if audio is not present and any addition of background audio should be subtle. If you are providing audio for an interview, try to include subtitles in case the reader cannot play the sound.

Audio can serve as a valuable tool or a terrible distraction. Be aware of the effect of your audio and make sure that it does not interfere with their experience. Too much audio can overwhelm your reader while just the right amount can enhance your story and create an immersive experience.
