The Storyteller theme for Newscoop

Newscoop hosting

If you have never used Newscoop before, now is a great time to be introduced. If you are already a Newscoop user, you can skip this and move on to the next chapter.

Newscoop is an open source content management system (CMS) for newsrooms (although not exclusively). If you have your own news site, Newscoop is a great option, but if you are only interested in creating a longform article, Newscoop is an equally suitable option. You don't need to be a newsroom to create your own longform story with Newscoop. In fact, the African project that inspired Storyteller was not associated with a newsroom of any sort.

Newscoop supports a number of different themes that are available to journalists and news organisations. Storyteller is simply an addition to the group of existing themes.

To begin, you may wish to download Newscoop and install it on your own web server. Supported server platforms include Debian GNU/Linux, Ubuntu, and Red Hat Enterprise.

If you are as baffled by the instruction manual as I was, you should consider our managed hosting option. This means that Sourcefabric engineers host your site for you, setup Newscoop, provide automatic upgrades and offer technical support. Our team of developers are constantly hard at work updating the system, eliminating pesky bugs and providing new features. To get access to all of these cool upgrades, you would need to download the latest version of the software yourself each time. If you opt for managed hosting, we update your server automatically and send you a notification each time we upgrade it.

For hosting, just send us an email to contact@sourcefabric.org and we will get back to you right away.

While you await our reply, you can get started on the next step. Head to the next chapter to begin.
